
An unidentified but VERY wealthy collector has paid a record price for a well-preserved Stradivarius violin. The instrument, which once belonged to Lord Byron’s granddaughter, sold for an unprecedented $15.9 million dollars – four times the previous record for a Stradivarius. All proceeds were donated to the Earthquake and Tsunami relief by the Japanese music foundation that made the sale.
