Authorities are warning that the temperatures – expected to break the 100-degree mark in some states – could be deadly, and the US National Weather Service is calling it the most significant heat wave the region’s seen in at least the last five years. The high temps, high air pressure, and high humidity have combined to create what officials call a “heat dome”, which can have dangerous health consequences.
