Bolivian Drug Cop Busted On Drug Charges

Bolivia’s former anti-drug commander has been arrested in Panama – for drug trafficking! General Rene Sanabria was the head of Bolivia’s anti-drug agency until 2009, and was still working for them as an adviser. Now he and three other police officers have been busted on suspicion of trying to smuggle cocaine into the US.

Major Arrest in Mexicos War on Drugs

Another major arrest advances Mexican war on drugs. Suspected drug kingpin Sergio Villarreal Barragan also known as El Grandé, is now the fourth major narcotics trafficker to be captured in Mexican President Felipé Calderon’s aggressive anti-drug offensive. Villarreal was captured outside a private residence in central Mexico on Sunday. He faces at least seven investigations for alleged drug trafficking and organized crime.

Mexico’s top anti-drug official has just resigned. As Interior Secretary, Fernando Gomez Mont was responsible for overseeing the country’s security strategy against drug cartels. President Felipe Calderon announced on Thursday that attorney Jose Francisco Blake Mora will take over as the new spearhead of the nation’s anti-drug efforts.
