The Federal Aviation Administration has announced new polices that will hopefully keep air controllers from falling asleep on the job. New rules will increase the minimum mandatory time between shifts to 9 hours from 8 and disallow shift swaps, which can decrease turnaround time. An extra controller will also be added to the midnight shift at 27 control towers nation wide.
