Arrests in Alleged Mob Hit

Police in Montreal have arrested six alleged mafia members believed to have been involved in the shooting death of Salvatore Montagna, the former head of New York’s notorious Bonanno crime family. The most notable of the six men arrested is 57-year old Raynald Desjardins – a high-ranking member of Montreal’s Rizzuto crime family. Desjardins has been charged with first-degree murder.

Mob Boss Gunned Down Near Montreal

Reputed Montreal mob boss and alleged, one time head of the infamous Bonanno crime family in New York has been gunned down. Salvatore Montagna – also known as Sal the Ironworker – was found dead on Thursday just outside of Montreal. Montagna had supposedly returned to Montreal to fill a void in the city’s mafia left by a series of killings and arrests. Police believe the shooting was a professional hit.
