BP is in the final stages of testing on its new capping device, which so far appears to have stopped the oil from leaking into the Gulf of Mexico. Engineers are testing how much pressure the well can withstand when the valves on the cap are closed. If all goes according to plan, the well could be permanently sealed by early August.
