David Letterman and Craig Ferguson won’t be leaving our TV sets anytime soon. The popular talk show hosts have re-upped their contracts, and will remain on CBS until at least 2014. For Ferguson, this means more money and a brand new studio in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the extension will see Letterman carry on as the longest-running late-night host in American history.

They call it March Madness, but something tells me broadcasters are anything BUT mad at the ratings. The latest from Nielsen says Saturday’s college basketball games earned their highest numbers in 21 years. That’s a 15 percent increase from a mere two years ago. The games averaged a very healthy 8 million viewers, which were spread out across CBS, TNT, TBS and TruTV.

No Fine For

It’s been seven years since nipplegate and I’m happy to report the matter has finally been closed. The FCC filed an appeal in 2008 to force CBS to pay a $550,000 fine for the incident that gave the largest audience in the US a brief glance of Janet Jackson’s nipple. The Supreme Court ruled CBS would not have to pay.
