One thousand TONS of “low level” nuclear waste from Germany is on the way to Tennessee. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved the transfer of the material to Oak Ridge, where it will be incinerated. According to the Utah-based EnergySolutions, the matter is safe – they claim there’s more radioactivity in the atmosphere from the sun than there is in this waste.
