US Military Ends DADT Policy

As of midnight Tuesday the US military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy is no more. The rule had been in place since 1993, and stated that military personnel would keep their sexual orientation private and that higher-ranking officers would not ask about them. Now gay servicemen and women will be allowed to serve openly and without fear of penalty.

Dont ask dont tell dont worry. A US judge has ruled that America’s controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy is unconstitutional. The policy said that gay people could serve in the military, as long as they kept their sexuality a secret, or else they’d be discharged. The US Department of Justice has 60 days to appeal the ruling.
