Gorbachev says NATO will fail in Afghanistan. Mikhail Gorbachev has warned NATO that there is absolutely no possibility for victory in Afghanistan. He’s also recommended to the US that they withdraw all their forces if they want to avoid another Vietnam. At this point, Gorbachev believes the best that NATO can hope to achieve is to move in and help Afghanistan rebuild itself once the war is over.
