James Murdoch has officially been accused of misleading Parliament this week in his testimony regarding the News of the World scandal. On Thursday, the paper’s former editor and lawyer issued a joint statement contradicting one of Murdoch’s key claims – that he’d signed checks to a famous soccer player WITHOUT knowing specifically WHY he was doing so. The statement said James signed off on huge payments for footballer Gordon Taylor to drop a lawsuit accusing the paper of hacking his phone and he knew exactly why he was doing so.
