17,000 chickens have been culled in Hong Kong in response to fears of a new bird flu outbreak. This after a dead chicken tested positive for the H5N1 avian virus. Hong Kong has suspended the trading of live chickens for the next three weeks in hopes of containing the bug, which can be transferred to humans.

Eight people, including one American, have been arrested in the largest cocaine bust in Hong Kong’s history. Police, acting on a tip, seized over a half-ton of the narcotic, with an estimated street value of over $77 million. The cocaine had been hidden inside brake fluid and motor oil containers, at a “recycling warehouse”.
