A US citizen originally from Pakistan has been jailed for 23 years for his part in a plot to bomb Washington DC’s metro. Farooque Ahmed admitted to joining a plot that he believed was backed by al-Qaeda. Prosecutors say Ahmed studied security operations and took photographs of subway stations in the DC area, in order to better coordinate a bombing.
