Syria has reached an agreement with the Arab League that will let observers into the country. The observers will closely monitor an initiative to end the anti-government protests, which have killed over 5000 people. Syria’s Foreign Minister praised the peace initiative, and said he wanted to build a safe, modern country that would become a “model of democracy”.
