Canada Withdraws from Kyoto Protocol

Canada has become the first country to withdraw from the Kyoto protocol – the world’s only binding climate treaty. Although they’ve made the announcement to formally withdraw, it wasn’t a huge surprise. Despite the fact that Canada signed the pact in the late nineties, they have never met targets. Landmark Climate Change Deal Reached

The head of a climate conference at the UN says that 194 countries have agreed to a new plan to fight climate change. The plan involves a package of deals that includes an extension of the Kyoto protocol, the creation of a Green Climate Fund, and a commitment to get all countries to sign a deal in 2015 that would make them cut emissions by 2020.
